Trip to Portland

I had an unexpected trip to Portland over the weekend. I am getting a little more used to this throwing things into a bag at the last minute. Laif picked me up Thursday, the 11th, and I spent the night at Donna and Laif's and we left for Portland on Friday. We came back home on Monday. I just had a great time. What a wonderful family they are and all the children are just so great.
The reason I was invited was because there was a BYOB party--translation--"Bring Your Own Babysitter". Donna and Laif and Steven and Janet wanted to go to the Stake Valentine Party and they were not able to get a sitter. It happened that the youth was also having a dance that evening and so it turned out that Steven and Janet were not able to get a sitter. It turned out great for me. I had been wanting to go visit and see their house.
Saturday we went to Multnomah Falls and Lodge. I had only been there once in 1946 for my honeymoon. We were looking through the photographs and strangely found one that was taken in 1946. Donna and Laif bought it for me. I had really forgotten what a beautiful area that was.
Steven had fixed sandwiches for all of us. Also he cooked breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday we went to Church. Janet fixed a very nice dinner for us.
Monday Steven had to work but the rest of us went to the Zoo. It was a little chilly but a nice day. I pushed Katie's stroller and got by really amazingly well. We got there about 10:00 am and didn't leave until 3pm.
I am so glad I was able to go. It was a great weekend. Thanks, Steven and Janet, for everything.

Nice Day

Snowfall from February 26, 2009 Just remembering how last winter was. We had so much snow and so much cold weather. I have really been enjoying this winter. That is an unusual statement for me to make as winter is not a good time for me. We did not have really bad weather in November or December and of course, as everyone knows, January 2010 was the warmest January on record. So far February is starting out good but it does look like we will have some rain coming up. I am sure some rivers could see flooding including the Green River.

Saturday was just a beautiful Spring like day. I was doing some "Spring cleaning" in my room and getting rid of stuff I no longer use. Also I went for a walk to the Library. It was hard to stay inside, it was so warm.

I don't have any plans for any trips yet. I suppose I will think of some place I would like to go this summer.

Debbie, Donna, Diane and I are all going to a Quilting Retreat the 26th of March near Portland, Oregon but that is only for the weekend. Also the first week of March is the Northwest Women's show that we like to go to in Seattle.

I will have to put on my thinking cap and see if I can remember any stories I should write down. I certainly do enjoy reading all the blogs and all the cute pictures of great-grandchildren.

The Olsons from Portland

Katie putting on her shoes. She had to show me how they light up.
Anna and David putting away the toys when getting ready to leave.

This, of course, is the beautiful wife and mother, Janet.

This is Steven with Katie. I can tell Katie loves to have her picture taken.

Eveyone spent Friday and Saturday night here. Janet and Steven and children were spending Saturday with Janet's sister's family. Debbie took care of the children Saturday evening so Steven and Janet could go out. All three of the children were so good.
It was so fun to see everyone.
