HALLOWEEN PICTURES
I made two different designs. Donna and Leif went on a cruise in October. They wanted something to hang on their cabin door. I also made one for a couple that they got acquainted with on their last cruise.

CHRISTMAS PROJECT

I made this back in the early part of October
CHRISTMAS TREE SKIRT

FINALLY POSTING

Jennie reminded me that I have not posted anything for a long time.  Actually I have not posted anything since June.

I also made a lot of these beautiful cork coasters.  I made some for David and me and for Donna and Leif and for our neighbor, Marge.
CORK  COASTERS

I have been very busy embroidering for months.
I made 120 of these book markers.  Donna wanted enough for her students and  I also made enough for her friend, who is also a teacher.  I probably made at least another 20 for other people.

FLASH DRIVE BAGS

This is a flash drive bag.  The top picture shows the bag closed. It is fastened with a ribbon tie.

The lower picture shows the bag open.  There are 6 spaces for flash drives.

This was a fun project . It takes only a little over an hour to make one.

I have made five of these so far.  I was just going to make one for Donna.  Donna showed it to Leif and he said that is just what he needed. So we gave him that one and I made Donna another one. Then Leif asked me if I would make one for Kyle. Then I made one for me.  Donna said our neighbor, Marge, had flash drives so I made her one and surprised her this morning with it.

We always have material on hand to make these small projects.

KITCHEN TOWEL

Donna made me this kitchen towel from an Anita Goodesign pattern.  I have it hanging on my refrigerator.

SISTERS EMBROIDERING

On Friday April 26th, Debbie surprised me and came over to spend some time with me.  Debbie is working on the Noah's Ark activity play mat. She came over to get some advice and to work on it.  Donna is also working on that.  I am doing the Noah's Ark wall hanging. it is taking me quite a bit of time for each square because there are so many appliqués and so much embroidering.  I am enjoying making it and looking forward to when it is done.

PROJECTS I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON

These are a few of the book club markers that I made.  I made one for each of the ladies in the Book Club.  Donna will be taking them to Book Club in April.

Today is the first day of Spring.  I am so happy to see the warmer weather.  The first part of this week had record breaking temperatures in Seattle and even here in Sequim.  It is pretty early for a lot of hot days but I am thankful for the ones we have.

Right now I have been making sewing machine covers.  I have all the squares made for Donna's machine.  Our neighbor, Marge really wanted one. I told her I would be happy to make her one.  The one for her machine has smaller squares than Donna's.  No matter the size, they take 19 squares.  The smaller squares go a little faster. I have 13 squares done already for Marge's.  I will put pictures on when the squares get sown together.

FEBRUARY SNOW STORM TO REMEMBER

First snowfall on February 3rd
We got about three inches.  Little did I know how much more we were going to get.
Picture I took through the window in the sewing room on the 9th.  My car is still in the driveway but you cannot see it because it is completely covered with snow.

This is a picture of the back yard on the 9th. We had almost two feet of snow. The bottom picture is my car on the 8th.

SAYINGS

Anita Goodesign had some really cute sayings pertaining to sewing.  I made this one for Donna while she and Leif were on their cruise. I gave it to her for Christmas. She loved that saying. Donna has it hanging in our sewing room.  I ended up making three more of this saying for some women in our ward. Anyone who sews can relate to this.

I Also did three more pin cushions for a lady in our ward. Also I made one for Marge, our next door neighbor.  She was so thrilled with it. She said the only pin cushion she had was a wrist one.

ADVENT CALENDAR

Donna and Leif hung up the advent calendar I made for part of the Christmas decorations . We got compliments on it.

UPCOMING PROJECT

I just got through making six Christmas potholders.  I had such a struggle with them.  They were larger and the pocket was so hard to position right.  I decided I was through making potholders but I guess not.  No more Christmas ones though. I am going to be making 24 potholders (12 sets of two.) of the style I have pictured above. These are much easier to make. Why am I doing this?
Donna joined the Red Hat ladies and in April they need to bring a gift for each person at their luncheon. Donna says most of them bring candy but she wanted to do something different.  There are twelve ladies. We finally decided the potholders would be the easiest. I think we probably have enough material. Donna will buy anything we need, bias tape, insulabrite. I will just be doing the embroidery and Donna will assemble them all.  This will definitely keep me busy. There are a lot of designs to choose from so each set will look different. I suppose something will come up in one of the new magazines that I just have to make.
Maybe I will get my machine for it's maintenance in the Spring.
Update on the potholders.  I am making 13 sets of two.  Donna forgot to count herself.

PIN CUSHIONS

I have been working on pin cushions. There are 10 designs.  Here are three of them I have made. These pin cushions are very easy to embroider but are a lot of work to put together. I plan to keep some and to give away some. I am keeping the Lady Bug one for myself.
I am showing two of them again as these two show bees and bee hives. I am giving these two to a friend that collects everything she can find with bees and bee hives on them. The center one is for Donna and she has that by her sewing machine. Donna is also going to have one with strawberries on it. The rest we will just use for decoration until we decide to give another one away.

WINTER STORM

Friday, December 14, 2018

yesterday our power was off for about 35 minutes around 1 pm.

Then at 2 pm our power went out and we did not get power back until 11:30 pm. There were big windstorms knocking down trees everywhere.  Thousands of people were without power.

When the power went back on, I checked the refrigerator and the chest freezer.  The food seems ok.  The carton of ice cream in the refrigerator freezer was a little soft but had not melted at all.  Everything seemed pretty frozen in the chest freezer.

It was very warm yesterday.  It got up to 61 degrees here.  I was not surprised about the storm.

We kept warm enough.  We were able to read our kindles.  We had a couple of LED flashlights and could see pretty good.  I am so used to sleeping under my electric blanket I had a hard time falling asleep but finally did go to sleep.

CHRISTMAS EMBROIDERY

I finished these squares for Donna.  She is going to make them into a small wall hanging.
I have now done six Christmas potholders and these squares.  I am now working on pin cushions. There are 10 designs for the pin cushions. I want to make all of them.  I have embroidered 7 so far.  They still need to be stuffed with poly fill pellets.  Two of the designs I will be giving to a friend. The two I am giving her have bees and bee hives on them.  She collects everything she can find with bees and bee hives. One has lady bug designs on it. I am going to keep that one for myself. These pin cushions are so easy to make.  I can always make more if I need to.

Donna wanted some Christmas potholders.  Here are two that are finished and two in progress.
I will be making two more potholders and then I have two other projects I need to finish.

CHRISTMAS WALL HANGING

Fireplace Santa
This is a project that I made a few months ago and I had set it aside.  Donna finally sewed it together. The squares are made from fleece.  I had never worked with fleece before.  It was a little more difficult for me.  It was not perfect but now that it is hanging on the door it looks pretty good.

THANKSGIVING

We had a nice thanksgiving

Just a couple of pictures of the group of about 28 people counting all the little ones running around.

I think everyone had a good time.
